who by fire

And who by fire, who by water,
Who in the sunshine, who in the night time,
Who by high ordeal, who by common trial,
Who in your merry merry month of may,
Who by very slow decay,
And who shall I say is calling?

And who in her lonely slip, who by barbiturate,
Who in these realms of love, who by something blunt,
And who by avalanche, who by powder,
Who for his greed, who for his hunger,
And who shall I say is calling?

And who by brave assent, who by accident,
Who in solitude, who in this mirror,
Who by his ladys command, who by his own hand,
Who in mortal chains, who in power,
And who shall I say is calling?

my favorite poems

I've been reading a new book, "mortified" by david nadelberg. its a journey through the diaries and journals of kids and then a look back from them as adults. but my favorite part of the book was the ideas from these children.

Abby on . . . Politics
I think George Washington was very good.

Stacey on . . . Time
Tuesday is an OK day. Not great though. It's sort of like Monday.
Only . . . a day later.

Stacey on . . . Sounds
Noise is like the air being filled with sounds . . . that you hear.

Abby on . . . Feminism
I felt different when these girls came to play outside and they all
knew each other and i didn't know them. They were all good friends.
Women!

now go listen to Mr. Hudson's there will be tears

who we are. circa 2007

Who are we as people. I look around and constantly see people trying to find who they are.

Along time ago I knew this kid who was amazed that I skated. They thought I was incredible what i could do on a skateboard. So much so that they wanted me to teach them how to skate. Of coarse I was put back by the compliment and was ready to teach. After about four times practicing rolling and stopping the kid was really coming along, getting used to balancing and getting all around more comfortable on the board. But one day suddenly i received a phone call from the kid freaking out about how he was losing himself, and saying skateboarding was an example. I thought about this for a long time. i mean a long time and i just recently realized what he said. He thought skateboarding wasn't "him". But who is he? Not a skateboarder? Who are we as people, are we the way we talk? The way we think? The way we act? What deciphers us as us? Can trying a new activity actually cause' you to loose who you are? Or should i be insulted because the idea of skateboarding hurt their original idea of who they were? Like i always say i am no expert on anything in life, as you can see in this lesson, i have no idea about lessons nor do i understand other people. I know i come in contact with millions of new people a year that teach me new and interesting things that i hold on to. Does that change me as who I am? No. Im mike walker. No matter what haircut i have, no matter the clothes i wear, no matter the drink i sip or the skateboard i ride. Im mike walker, and a new talent or skill wont change me. Neither will a broken heart. Everything makes you who you are. Everything makes you. Everything. You.

re-life

Im not an expert at anything. I don't think anyone really is. There is no correct opinion, no ones ideas are more "right" then anyone else's. Everyone in their life is going to feel pain. Everyone is going to feel love and happiness. Everyone is going to feel right when they are wrong and wrong when they are right. Everyone is going to point their finger and blame others. Everyone will cry. Im no expert on life. But I'm an expert on my life, but i know this. Everyone is there to give advice but rarely do they ever know any type of answer that applies to you, to them yes because its their answer. I am not sophisticated nor intellectual but I am sophisticated and using my intelligence to realize this. Tomorrow is coming. Pain is possible but so is happiness. I personally am willing to take the chance tomorrow, but I'm no expert. So don't take my words of wisdom take your own.

Music.

I've been really into the late night walks with headphones. So i want you to enjoy what i'm enjoying.
